During high school, as part of a Personal Progress goal for Young Women's, I made dinner every night for 2 weeks for my mom, dad, and Brooke. One of the nights my dad asked, "What's for dessert?" to which I responded, "Nothing. I'm not a mom!" Well, Dad, guess what? I'm a mom now!
Ok, so I didn't actually make dessert last night, but I definitely felt like a mom making dinner yesterday. I made teriyaki chicken. I mixed up the sauce, cut up the chicken, Will started crying, I washed my hands to get the raw chicken germs off, went to check on Will... and smelled it. He had completely blown out his diaper, up his back, through both layers of his clothes, and stained his swing. So I picked him up, changed his diaper, wiped him down, changed his clothes and put him on a blanket on the floor. Then I washed my hands again after changing the diaper, mixed the chicken and sauce together, put it in the oven, and put the rice in the rice cooker. Went back to Will's messy clothes, put them in the bathroom sink with some Oxyclean and water, took the swing cover off the swing, added it to the clothes. Then I remembered I was going to steam some carrots so I washed my hands again, put the carrots in the steamer over the rice cooker, and went back to the soaking clothes to give them a good scrub before I put them in the laundry. Miraculously, even with Will's little interruption, I managed to have the rice, chicken, and carrots all done within 5 minutes of each other, and after the laundry was done there were no remaining stains. Gooooo Heather!
