With so many picture posts it's been a while since I've actually written about my kids on the blog.
1. Emma is WALKING (finally). She took her first steps at the beginning of March at my sister Michelle's house and we thought, "Yay! She's going to start walking now!" Wrong. She didn't walk again for about a week and only for a step here and there. Otherwise she pretty much refused to walk without a death grip on our fingers--or she just crawled instead. Finally eight weeks later she decided to walk while we were at Target. She walked through the whole store and hasn't stopped walking since. In fact, sometimes she kicks and screams until I let her walk--like when I'm trying to do her hair, or push her in the stroller, or go grocery shopping.
2. She loves eating. Seriously. For a while I felt like all she did was sleep, drink milk, eat, drink milk, sleep, snack, eat, drink milk, sleep... with some playing in there somewhere. She must have been going through a big growth spurt because she's backed off a little now. She used to eat more than Will though.
3. When Emma isn't eating, sleeping, or walking, she is a snuggler. Mostly with mommy. :) She loves to lounge on me, be held by me, and even cries sometimes if I leave the room too suddenly. She does, however, get really excited when Daddy gets home from work.
4. Speaking of lounging on me... I can't lie on the ground anymore without getting sat on
(and bounced on) by Emma. Obviously me lying exhausted on the ground from raising two kiddos is her cue to come ride me like a horse. Every. Time.
5. She has 12 teeth, including 8 teeth in front and 4 molars. She also knows where her teeth are and will cheesy smile and bite repeatedly to show you.
6. She knows where her nose, teeth, cheeks, tongue, hair, eyes, toes, fingers, mouth, and (her very favorite) belly button are and will show you where when asked. She points with her index finger and says, "No" or "Mo" for her nose, bites for her teeth, touches her eyes, hair, and belly button, sticks out her tongue, squishes her cheeks with two hands and says "Cheesh", points to her toes, wiggles her fingers, and flicks her lips and makes a "Bwabwabwa" sound for her mouth. She loves it.
7. She finally figured out how to say "mama" last month! (It's about time!) She also says "buh" (bird), "dah" or "dah dah" (dog), "moh" (more), "muh" (milk--with the ASL sign), "Daaaa!" (dad), "Cheesh" (cheeks or please depending on context), "dah duh" (with inflection--Thank you), "ah dah" (All done), "Meh" (Amen at the end of a prayer, she also folds her arms... or hands, since her arms aren't long enough to cross more than that), and "uh, ya!" (exactly what it sounds like).
8. Will and I have been teaching her animals sounds and so far she answers most with "AARGHH" (like a lion, not a pirate) but sometimes she gets other ones right, like elephant, dog ("ff ff"), bird (tries to whistle), cow (mmmm), goat, and horse (she just fake laughs, which pretty much sounds like a horse neighing).
9. She loves to hand people things. Whether you need it, asked for it, want it, know what it is or not she loves walking up to us, grunting, putting something in our hands and walking away as if to say, "You need this. You're welcome."
10. She loves her shoes. For a few weeks she wore them 24-7. Literally--she even slept in them and if they fell off while she was sleeping the first thing she did in the morning was hand us her shoes so we'd put them back on. Now she has figured out that most people take off their shoes when they walk in the house so now whenever she crosses over the threshold of our front, garage, or back door she immediately sits down to take her shoes off... usually forcing me to hold the door open so it doesn't crash into her. Then she eventually asks me to put her shoes back on again after a few minutes.
11. And as a bonus here's Emma's newest trick: If you point to her chest and say, "What's your name?" then she points to her chest with her index finger and say, "Ma." Halfway there. :)
