The Birthday Boy

Today our little boy turned 1 year old. I can't believe how quickly that year has passed! And what an amazing year it's been. We are so blessed to have Will in our life and even though parenting isn't always the most glamorous, clean, organized, or peaceful way of life, it is definitely the most rewarding. And with Will, it's usually the most fun. He seriously is the funniest, smartest, most active little boy on the planet. 

He still makes tons of funny faces and expressions (some even on command). 

He fake laughs whenever the people around him are laughing. 

He is completely content to just walk around the apartment and/or climbs up on our chairs and couches all day long. 

He loves his stuffed animals. When I go in to get him after naps he'll see me, turn around in his crib, pick up his giraffe and turn back to me with a huge smile on his face.

He loves books. His favorites to pull off of the bookshelf (besides his cardboard children's books) are his mommy's French books (especially my conjugation book of 12,000 French verbs) and daddy's business books.

He is so smart. Earlier today I accidentally left a box next to the coffee table--he used it to climb on top of the table. So I slid the box under the table--he crawled under the table, pulled the box out, and used it to climb on top of the table.

He responds to voice commands now! (But only when he's in the right mood.) When you say, "Clap your hands," he claps. When you say, "Give kisses," he smacks his lips together, but he won't actually kiss you. When you say, "Say 'Yes, Mom!'" he nods his head. When you say, "Ew, P.U.!" he waves his hand back and forth. When you say, "Where's Will?" he sometimes puts his hands over his eyes but usually puts his hands on his head or just smacks himself repeatedly on the forehead. And when you say, "Bye bye!" he says "Ba..." and open and closes his hand. 

We love him so much and we can't wait to see what he learns this year. Happy First Birthday, sweet boy!
